The Board of Aldermen and I would like to welcome you and your family to Farmington, Mississippi. Originally chartered May 15, 1838, Farmington was unable to remain chartered after being burned in 1862 during the Civil War. Since re-incorporation in 1997, the Board of Aldermen has worked to lead Farmington in the right direction. More

In 2009, the Farmington Police Department had over 3,300 calls for service. A call for service could be an auto accident, to assist the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department or the Alcorn County Sheriff's Department, or to provide crime prevention for the citizens or businesses.

In 2005, Farmington began the Code Enforcement division of the police department. The complaints or concerns on property maintenance and appearance as well as animal control issues are investigated by a part-time code enforcement officer.
